Bill for the sale at auction of the copyrights for 19 of Boucicault's plays "On Monday, the 27th day of May, 1889". The copyrights are being sold by order of the High Court of Justice, Divorce Division, presumably to raise money for alimony payments from Dion to Agnes Boucicault.

Newspaper cuttings relating to the "Mrs Jordan Affair", and the related court case of Jordan v. Gibbon. Dion Boucicault had, during Agnes's pregnancy with Patrice, started an affair with the actress Emily Jordan. The Jordans separated and George Jordan, following his wife, saw Boucicault enter her new lodgings late one night. He gained entry to the house and tried to find Boucicault, who had hidden himself in the rooms of another lodger, Colonel Gibbon. Gibbon, who had been out but was now returning home, was asked by the landlady to stop Jordan creating a disturbance; finally, Colonel Gibbon called the police and had Jordan arrested. Jordan sued Colonel Gibbon for false arrest.

The subject of the enquiries is never mentioned, but presumably they are connected to the question whether Dion Boucicault was ever a clerk at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin. (The Guinness Mahon bank was founded to deal with the money belonging to the Guinness brewery family.) Calthrop is referred to colleagues in Dublin and told that no information has been found.
