Material relating to the case of Boucicault v. Hart; John Hart was a tailor whom Boucicault owed money:

• item 1 -- transcript from The Times (Wednesday 2 February, 1842, page 6, col. 4) of the report on Bourcicault [sic] v. Hart before the Court of Exchequer on Tuesday, February 1st; this includes a passage on Boucicault's mother, Anna Boursiquot, testifying to his date of birth being 7th December 1820; the transcript is not always verbatim;

• item 2 -- transcript of a letter from Dion Boucicault to the editor of The Era (Sunday 13 February, 1842, p. 6, col. 4), in which he responds to the press coverage of Boucicault v. Hart; this includes Boucicault's address at this date;

• item 3 -- transcript of a letter from John Hart to the editor of The Era (Sunday 20 February 1842, p. 5, col. 4) in response to Boucicault's letter from the previous week;

• item 4 -- a letter from the Librarian of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, asserting that the case Bourcicault [sic] v. Hart was only reported in The Times; the letter also contains a brief discussion of Boucicault's date of birth.
