Newspaper cuttings relating to the "Mrs Jordan Affair", and the related court case of Jordan v. Gibbon. Dion Boucicault had, during Agnes's pregnancy with Patrice, started an affair with the actress Emily Jordan. The Jordans separated and George Jordan, following his wife, saw Boucicault enter her new lodgings late one night. He gained entry to the house and tried to find Boucicault, who had hidden himself in the rooms of another lodger, Colonel Gibbon. Gibbon, who had been out but was now returning home, was asked by the landlady to stop Jordan creating a disturbance; finally, Colonel Gibbon called the police and had Jordan arrested. Jordan sued Colonel Gibbon for false arrest.
