The University
of Kent Library Catalogue indexes all the material (books, journals,
videos, theses, short loan photocopies, etc.) held in the University's
Library. It is essential that you learn how to use the catalogue.
There is no other way to be sure of knowing what the Library holds.
The catalogue will only tell you what material
is available within a the Library collection
It will not tell you what material can be found
elsewhere
It indexes material at a top level - e.g. a
catalogue will tell you what journals are available in a library,
but not what articles can be found in those journals (to identify
relevant articles, search an index,
or a full-text resource)
The catalogue gives you all the details
necessary to find an item in the Library
Catalogues for other
collections and libraries exist. You may use these if the University
of Kent Library does not hold the material you require, and you
are willing to travel to another library (check local access policies
before you make the trip!). Alternatively, consider document
delivery if you are eligible.
