Identifying relevant resources - Introduction to module 1:

Before you can start to find information, you need to know what information you need, and where to get it from

This module will give you an overview of the different types of information and literature available, and it will explain what tools can be used to help you identify and find this material.

This module will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Learning Objective for Module 1

The publication and presentation of literature and information occurs in different formats, and what you use will vary according to need. This module will :

  • give you some simple tips on identifying what your information needs are
  • and show you what resources can help you track down that information

By the end of the module, you should be aware of the ranges of information available in order to address a particular need, and what types of resources can be used to find that information.

Key Skills Acquired

How to identify the level and type of information required, and the relevant resources for finding that information.

Module 2 will look in detail at how to search resources effectively for information.
